Hanky Hem Dress + Life Lately

Maurices just gets me. I have been a long-time shopper at this favorite boutique since back in high school. I grew up in rural southern Minnesota, which left me shopping at Walmart, ShopKo, and even Pamida! So once Maurices popped up in our teeny tiny mall, my sisters and I were ecstatic and went ALL THE TIME. They have been my go-to for dress pants, dresses, work clothes, casual clothes, jewelry, and shoes. I bought my first pair of Silver Jeans back in the day there, too! So it is no surprise that my recent visit found me in this amazing Hanky Hem dress. After I put it on, I just knew it was for me. The fit is easy-going, … Read More

Easter Sunday Best

Easter brings to mind all things floral, spring, warm, pastel, and for me… even chocolate! When I was a little girl, my favorite thing about Easter was picking out which spring dress I was going to pull out for Easter Sunday’s church service. This memory lives on for me even still! I love finding a dress that emulates the spring season. In all of this fashionista fun, I stop in thankfulness for the sacrifice that was made for my soul, for your soul. Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in me will live, even though they die; and whoever lives by believing in me will never die.” – John 11:25-26 Jesus died as sacrifice for … Read More

Denim Jacket + Striped Dress

Teacher FashionistaBy Day, Featured Collaborations, For Play, Summer Fashion, Weekend Wear1 Comment

Today I am sharing again from a small business – The Market Boutique! I am featuring their short-sleeved Harper Striped Dress in Taupe and Red. With the cooler winter/spring temperatures that are often still surrounding us, I decided to layer the dress with a light-wash denim jacket. I wore my favorite OTK boots, too, and it brought out the taupe color in the dress. This dress is quite a bit shorter in the front, so my OTK boots worked fabulous! It has a high-low hem, with a blousing detail on the back of the dress between the shoulders (seen in the website photos here). Holiday Party Time!

Teacher FashionistaSpecial Occassions3 Comments

Holiday parties fill our weekends once December hits! I love casual get-togethers where ugly sweaters are all the rage. But what about those office parties you or your spouse need to attend? Those are a little harder to dress for. I’m usually one to wear more classic pieces, and lace + black always fit into that category! Classic Clothing for a Holiday Party I am wearing a pencil skirt with a flirty side-slit, but a flare skirt would be another classy option – check the ones I’ve linked here and here. Sparkle can add the perfect touch, so I added some sparkle with a statement necklace. Fall’s Blanket Cardigan

Fall…. The crunch of crisp leaves on the ground. The smell of pumpkin spice all around. The cooler weather and the cozy nights snuggling by the fire. I love it all! Fall is slowly but surely arriving in our neck of the woods and I welcome it with open arms! I’m sure you have already noticed that blanket scarves are all the rage! Have you found a fun blanket cardigan yet, though? They not only feel cozy, they look cozy! I mean – the fringe, the knits, the colors! I am just loving the colors in this cardigan – the brown, mustard, and rusty red tints greet the season of sweater weather. Dare to Flare

Teacher FashionistaCasual, Featured Collaborations, Teacher Styles, Wear to Work, Weekend Wear

Hello 70’s! I am one of those people who is excited to see flare jeans again! They add some diversity when I’m making choices on which “bottoms” to wear instead of just the go-to skinnies. Silver Jeans have been my favorite fit in jeans since I was in high school. I have had various washes and styles ranging from boot cut to skinnies, and have loved them all. Suki Mid Flare Jeans Today I’m wearing a new style: the Suki Mid Flare by Silver Jeans Co. I am a girl with curves in the middle (if you know what I mean), and I don’t want gaping around the waist because of that – which is what brought me to the Silver Jeans brand years … Read More
